“1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:” — Proverbs 3:1-3 KJV.
To obtain wisdom is of the mercy of God!
In the Vines Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words by W.E. Vine, Merrill F. Unger, William White, Jr., Thomas Nelson Publishers, under the Hebrew word “hokmah” (wisdom, experience, shrewdness), it states that “The prerequisite is a desire to follow and imitate God as He has revealed Himself in Jesus Christ, without self-reliance and especially not in a spirit of pride: “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: to understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:5-7). Vines also states that “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits [see Galatians 5:22-23], without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace” (James 3:17-18).
“Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.” (Proverbs 8.32 — KJV).
Also in Vine’s it states that “…wisdom was a process of attainment and not an accomplishment“….and that ” This word [hakam -2450- adjective] plus the noun “hakmah” [ they may mean “hokmah” (2451)– wisdom; experience; shrewdness] and the verb [“hakam – 2449] “to be wise” signify an important element of the Old Testament religious point of view. Religious experience was not a routine, a ritual, or faith experience. It was viewed as a mastery of the art of living in accordance with God’s expectations.”
I have often said to myself that my wisdom is not of myself, but from God. What little He has given to me of His wisdom is of what I can handle through each of my situations, trials, and tribulations. His wisdom has given me my joy and peace especially when I read scripture every day which sets the pace for the day. I thank Him many times for how He has helped me make wise decisions for my life and for my business. I owe all what I have, of which I am content, to God alone! I believe God is good to those who truly love Him, and I believe that with my whole heart! Even when God disciplines me it is good, and is for my good! God is good!
By the grace and mercy of God, grant me wisdom!
God Bless You All!
