Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 KJV
“The word of Christ,” the gospel message and the saving work of Christ, inhabits the believer, and is abundant in spiritual wisdom which is given to us freely and which gives us much joy. “The word of Christ,” the gospel message and the saving work of Christ, is essential to the “mystery” of God’s will which is Christ (Ephesians 3:9-11), and of the revelation in the knowledge of Christ (Ephesians 3:3-5).
“The word of Christ,” the gospel message and the saving work of Christ, compels us to teach and admonish (instruct and direct) “one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,” and as such connects us to His supernatural divine presence in our hearts and minds, i.e., His sharing of gratitude, joy, and favor to us, and mutually from us to the Lord. Our charge is to meditate on the supernatural effect in our lives when you “Let the word of Christ dwell in you.”
Much is occurring with the meaning of this verse in Colossians 3:16 when we experience “The word of Christ,” the gospel message and the saving work of Christ, which is also to know God expressed especially in our daily worship. How blessed we are to be in an daily active involvement and participation in “The word of Christ.” This active participation in “The word of Christ” is a supernatural occurrence and presence of our Lord for both believers, and also for non-believers who begin to open their hearts and minds to Christ.
Praise be to the holy word of Christ!
